The Lanzhu Shrine's Devlog

About

Idol Hell, meet Development Hell

I've wanted to make a character shrine on this site for about as long as I've had this site. I knew I wanted to make my first one dedicated to Lanzhu, and I got to work! And then I gave up! Repeat for several years.

Lanzhu is probably my favorite character from the Love Live franchise. Most of her solos are the electronic music I've loved for most of my life, and her arc of arrogance hiding insecurity really resonated with me. I wanted her shrine to be something I was proud of. None of my attempts were what I really wanted to make.

I wanted to have a way to post my progress and show what I'm working on. Large projects like this usually start as a private GitHub repository, and only get released when I feel like they're "complete enough", whatever that means at that particular point of time.

If you have any questions or feedback, please contact me either by email or shoot me a message on the Melonland Forum. You can try my other socials too but those are the two I'm most active on at the moment.

She wires my frames until I... uh...

I feel like the biggest hurdle for this project was just not knowing what layout I wanted to use. Initially I planned on using one of sadgrl's rescued layouts, and then I considered making it look like the Lan Sect Rules I did a long while back, and then I considered riping off Idol Story wholesale.

None of those ideas worked out.

I decided I needed something resembling a plan if I wanted to actually get this project done before 2037, so I pulled out my Figma account and started playing around. The result I got was very modern (for better or worse), but I feel like I can make it work.

WIP, design is not final and all images are placeholders.

My next step is to finish asset collection. I don't have any of her SIF2 cards saved and I need to grab her songs if I plan on letting visitors at least sample her music. After that I can work on the first iteration of the shrine.
